The process began with shredding polyester fabric, which was then prepared for extrusion at TCKT. During this phase, an innovative process for extruding pellets was developed, overcoming challenges related to the continuous dosing of shredded fabric into the extruder, minimising material degradation.
The resulting pellets were then sent to KORTEKS, where, after preliminary quality tests, they were transformed into yarns. The yarns produced were then sent to SUN, where the first fabric pieces were made from our recycled yarns.
The overall quality was satisfactory, and the team is confident in repeating this process with more complex materials, such as polyester yarns recovered from textile blends after the hydrolysis of the cotton component.
